nickname generator. Lisa was dubbed “Bagman Pinky”. She embraced the
moniker, making it her “Starbucks name” and affixing her Bagman Pinky
coffee label to the back of her stodgy, wooden nameplate. Lisa reminds
everyone to have fun and not take anything too seriously.
“PRESIDENT LISA”
Not satisfied just serving as a bencher, Lisa put her name forward to run for
second vice-president of the Law Society. In the process, Lisa bucked the
traditional “consensus” approach to picking a nominee, encouraging an
election as a more transparent and better process.
When Zoran asked why she wanted to take on so much extra work, Lisa
responded that she wanted to give back to the profession.
Giving back has been a theme throughout Lisa’s career. She has volunteered
hundreds of hours each year to assisting colleagues and making the
profession better. She has volunteered extensively for organizations and
mentored many students and junior lawyers with their practices and litigation
work.
Everyone familiar with Lisa knows that the Law Society will benefit from
Lisa’s leadership, which is informed by her intelligence, dedication, work
ethic, sense of humour, compassion and thoughtfulness.
“THE DOG MOTHER”
Lisa recently adopted the world’s cutest dog, Eddie, named after Eddie Van
Halen, who passed away shortly before Lisa acquired the pup. Lisa dotes on
Eddie, and he has his run of the Hamilton Fabbro offices when he makes an
appearance.
“THE FRIEND YOU HAVE FOR LIFE”
Lisa has worked incredibly hard through life’s beautiful and sorrowful twists
and turns. At no time has she taken herself too seriously. Lisa shows us all
how to “lighten up” and enjoy the moment. Lisa lifts everyone up, and makes
people feel better about themselves, especially when they are feeling low.
Lisa is grateful for her significant successes and takes nothing for
granted. She is generous with her time, despite her demanding schedule.
She encourages the growth and success of young adults and young lawyers.
She is kind and compassionate to all. These traits, as well as her brilliant
mind, will be great assets in her role as president of the Law Society.
We are proud and honoured to call Lisa our friend.
Lisa is the one you are lucky enough to sit next to on any “first day”, and
you are even luckier to have her become your friend for life.
