Like Campbell, I found Roberts’
review of the Geneva Conventions
equally enlightening. However,
Campbell’s attempt to turn a study
on international law into a hatchet
job on Israel is a disheartening but
predictable response by members
of the Boycott, Divestment and
Sanctions (“BDS”) movement. One
of the techniques they use is to
plant anti-Israel stories of varying
accuracy into any magazine to discredit
and destabilize the Jewish
state. On the other hand, events of
the past months have shown that
history is moving on beyond the
tired canard of apartheid.
I challenge anyone to suggest
that Campbell and her co-BDS
counterparts are any more interested
or sincere about the welfare
of the Palestinian people than the
governments of Oman, United
Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco
and Sudan who recently joined
Israel in the historic Abraham
Accords. These nations (and others
are likely forthcoming) have for
decades financially, morally and
diplomatically supported the cause
of the Palestinian people.
They have come to the conclusion
that the “leadership” of the
Palestinians, including the Palestinian
Authority and the Iranianbacked
Hezbollah and Hamas
(whose charter calls for the annihilation
of the state of Israel), are corrupt
and bankrupt of ideas. Even
the venerable and intelligent Palestinian
legislator Hanan Ashrawi
has resigned from the Palestinian
government due to endemic corruption
and lack of leadership.
It is interesting to note that in a
recent interview, Tony Blair, the
