THE ADVOCATE 549
VOL. 80 PART 4 JULY 2022
Individually, we will benefit by being supported to make personal
changes and to develop an awareness of what we need in order to develop
our well-being and ensure that we are nurturing all dimensions of our life.
This work need not be daunting or overwhelming; rather, it is best incorporated
into our lives as a continuous process. In fact, the ABA defines wellbeing
as “a continuous process in which lawyers strive for thriving in each
dimension of their lives”.5
What I and others are hoping is that the pandemic has brought to the
attention of the various institutions in the legal profession the need for, and
value of, these changes.
LAPBC is an independent organization of members of the legal community (lawyers, judges, families and support staff). We
provide peer support and referral services to help people deal with personal problems, including alcohol and drug dependence,
stress, anxiety and depression. We are volunteers and staff committed to providing confidential, compassionate and
knowledgeable outreach, support and education. We seek to foster collegiality among our peers and to promote health and
well-being in our community. You can reach LAPBC by telephone at 604-685-2171, toll-free at 1-888-685-2171 or via the
LAP website: <www.lapbc.com>.
