The Honourable James Keith Shaw
My brother and lifelong friend, James Keith Shaw—
known as “Jim” to friends and colleagues—was a
practising lawyer and a longstanding judge of the
Provincial Court of British Columbia. Jim passed

Jim was born (in 1930) and raised in Vancouver,

Weld Shaw Winch. He attended Prince of Wales High School and the University
of British Columbia, where he graduated with a law degree in 1955.
While he was at UBC, Jim met the love of his life, Daphne Harris. When

their family made Jim’s career possible.
Jim was called to the bar in 1956. He initially practised in Vancouver. He
