THE ADVOCATE 721
VOL. 78 PART 5 SEPTEMBER 2020
NEWS ABOUT THE
LAW COURTS INN
Here at the Advocate we have been following with some alarm the
provincial government’s decision not to renew the lease of the Lawyers’
Inn Society of the Law Courts Inn at 800 Smithe Street in September 2020.
The government’s sudden move to procure this public space for un-
specified government offices without consultation, which was followed by
a rather terse response to an open letter from the Lawyers’ Inn Society, has
been postponed for the time being. Some samplings from the correspondence
follow. However, the battle is yet to be won, and we invite you to lend
your voice to the cause. Rise up! – Ed.
